As a perfectionist growing up, I was notorious for keeping lists. “To-do” lists, “want” lists, “where I want to travel” lists… As someone with bipolar, I was also notorious for throwing away these lists during a depressive episode. This was due to whatever feeling happened to hit me during that particular episode: overwhelmed, like I didn’t deserve those things, etc. During my journey of self-discovery over the past year-and-a-half, I’ve been able to tweak my list habit into the positive affirmation known as journaling.
