Magdalena Zawisza

Senior Lecturer in Psychology at ARU

Magdalena Zawisza, PhD, is a senior lecturer in the Department of Psychology at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge. She is a co-editor of The Routledge International Handbook of Consumer Psychology, an editor of MediaMatters and runs Insights: Brand, Advertising & Society Research Consultancy. Her work has been published in peer reviewed journals such as Sex Roles and Frontiers and attracted media attention from The Independent, BBC and Newsweek among others. Her research interests fall into three general areas: consumer, gender and applied social psychology. Her work examines explicit or implicit gender attitudes and stereotype content and their performance in advertising context as well as attitudes to both men and women cross-culturally. Her further interests include: elaboration of gendered advertisements by men and women as well as the effects of gendered advertisements on audiences and their prevention. Her work is grounded in positivist approach and uses mainly experimental methodology.
