Women in Business November – Mastermind
Our Women in Business monthly event is designed to support women in business by offering a friendly space to meet and connect with like-minded women.
NOVEMBER BRINGS OUR MASTERMIND SESSION, with The Rising Network’s Lily Cheng and Sue Walden to be joined by invited guests
We have three Women in Business formats, each format is held once per quarter on a rotational basis, and include:
- Mixer – Invited guest speaker sharing their entrepreneurial journey along with informal networking where you can introduce yourself to others and build your network.
- Mastermind session – networking and peer to peer support designed to help you navigate through challenges. Solve problems with input and advice from the other group members and from our invited business coaches/advisors.
- Masterclass – joined by a guest speaker for an interactive session by an expert in their field.
Expand your network and raise your profile. Our events offer a great opportunity to introduce yourself, bounce ideas off each other and to get to know other working women in Cambridge.

About the business coaches:
Lily has over 19 years’ marketing and event management experience. Prior to founding the Rising Network, Lily played a key role in growing and developing a leading technology industry network. During her time in this role, she was responsible for business growth, strategic partnerships, engaging with the tech community and members. As Head of Business Development and PR, Lily set up and oversaw the overall marketing and PR function within the business. During the decade she spent in the healthcare sector, Lily has held various roles. These became the catalyst in fuelling her desire to empower individuals to create a better life for themselves, and to improve health and well-being. It is her holistic approach to employee well-being and organisational psychology which enables Lily to create effective learning and development workshops alongside initiatives for individuals and organisations to improve the bottom-line performance. Her commitment is to bring people together, from all industries and communities, and is an advocate for raising the awareness of mental health in a positive light.
Sue recognises the incredible diversity and potential of the extensive range of businesses from entrepreneurs to the larger players across the region. In her role as Business Development Manager at both local newspapers; Cambridge News and Cambridge Independent over the last 10 years, she has been responsible for launching new magazines, business exhibitions, bespoke publications, awards, networking events and other initiatives.
With over 30 years’ experience of developing strong business relationships, corporate partnerships, PR, marketing campaigns and impactful events for small businesses right through to international clients, her enthusiasm, creativity and passion have been the key to her success. Sue’s achievements include the growth of Cambridge News’ Business Excellence Awards, the launch of Cambridge Business Magazine, Cambridge Magazine and Cambridge Independent and developing new initiatives including the latter’s Science & Technology Awards and Employee Awards. Her years of event management for the charitable and corporate sectors, her desire to assist, develop, connect and inspire business people at all levels have led her to bring these attributes to develop The Rising Network’s portfolio further.
