Rising Festival Mentoring Circles: 10th March
What are Mentoring Circles?
The Rising Network Mentoring Circles offer a supportive peer to peer learning environment lead by mentors in each circle. Each mentoring circle will have a set theme so that mentees can come armed with questions to seek advice from both mentors and peers to collectively explore and discuss the issue – while being mentored and guided by someone who has knowledge and experience in personally overcoming that problem: the mentor.
How they work?
Each Mentor will be in their own virtual mentoring circle and we will have parallel mentoring circles running at the same time. You are free to join any circle simply by joining the virtual room your chosen mentor is in. At the start of the session, in each circle, our Mentors will give a short talk which will then be followed by informal discussions and mentoring.
Breathwork for Anxiety
Lisa Sibley, Founder of Breathing Bliss
If you would like to find out more about the number 1 tool to help you manage anxiety in your life, come to this mentoring circle where the focus is on breathwork tools. Breathing ‘intentionally’ eases the stress response, triggering the parasympathetic nervous system and in turn this eases the feeling of anxiety felt in the body, calms down racing thoughts and decreases physical feelings such as a rapid heartbeat, shallow chest breathing and panic attacks. Lisa Sibley will introduce you to the breathing techniques you can try in the mentoring circle and then take away with you to support your work and home life.
The breathwork can be experienced seated or lying down. You might want to create a comfortable space on a yoga mat or similar. Bring a blanket and wear socks as your body temperature can change. Please also bring some water as part of the session we will be moving the body. Please also bring a notepad. If you have any underlying serious health conditions, please check with your GP and contact Lisa to check the session is suitable for you.
