Join us in London for Network & Learn: Increase Your Influence & Impact

Hear experts in their field share insights and knowledge on increasing your influence and impact, followed by our unique ‘Speed Networking with Purpose’ session – where we create up to 450 meaningful connections in one evening!

In this session hear lighting talks on:

Talk 1: ‘She got the job because she’s a woman: Managing assumptions of tokenism at work’ – Marie-Claude Gervais, Co-founder / Research & Strategy Director of Versiti

Using an evidence-based (always!) approach, in this talk Marie-Claude will share how the nature of workplace discrimination has changed over the past decade or two, reflecting changes in the legislation. It is now illegal to discriminate openly but the social norms that led to sexism and racism have not entirely gone away. As a result, sexism and racism get expressed differently. And that tends to be by undermining the status and achievement of women and people from ethnic minority backgrounds who have succeeded by assuming that they are promoted ‘just because’ of their gender or ethnicity. This results in ‘tokenism’ and ‘typecasting’ – two new forms of indirect discrimination. Marie-Claude will share in her talk how to counter these assumptions.

Talk 2: Kim Wedrell-Rooke, Partner of Taylor Vinters

Talk 3: ‘How Influencers Have Changed The Industry’ – Lauren Lunn Farrow, Director of Lunn Farrow Media

Lauren Lunn Farrow will look at how influencers have changed the media industry and the way we consume media. Lauren’s 15 year career started when digital media was very much in its infancy. During her career she has worked across a range of household names and brands and seen the media industry evolve, expand and rapidly change. This talk will look at the changes over the last 15 years and why influencers are working around the clock to stand out in a saturated market where everyone has an opinion and a platform.

This event is a fantastic way to expand your network, challenge your thinking and learn something new. As with all our events, we pride ourselves in creating a relaxed and welcoming experience to enable meaningful relationships to be made.

We hope you can join us for a night of insight and shared learning over wine and nibbles.

Her clients include government departments, large charities and some of the world’s biggest brands.
Originally from Montreal, Canada, Marie-Claude takes multiculturalism and equality for granted. She has two mixed-race, mixed-faith teenagers. In her spare time, she sings and wages a losing battle with weeds in her communal garden.

About Kim Wedral-Rooke: I am a Partner in the Employment team with expertise in helping ambitious and innovative companies, at all evolutionary stages, to resolve their people issues – wherever in the world they may be.
People (and workforce stability) are often one of the most crucial assets for a business but can quickly and easily generate the trickiest issues to manage. I am passionate about helping my clients to resolve these issues and achieve their workforce goals in a pragmatic, commercial yet sensitive way – always giving a view and never sitting on the legal fence. I aspire to embed myself in my clients’ businesses so that they see me as an extended member of their team; with deep insight into their sector and understanding of their needs. This in turn enables me to understand what makes their staff tick and goes on to shape how best a staffing issue might best be resolved. I joined Taylor Vinters as a trainee in 2009, qualified into the Employment team in 2011 and was promoted to Partner in 2019. I participate in the team’s international strategy group and provide regular support to our team’s junior lawyers and trainees. One thing you probably did not know about me is that I am fluent in Croatian and in my free time I enjoy a good jump out of a plane.
